Dictionary
When buying a German dictionary, make sure that “Deutsch als Fremdsprache” is written on it, e.g.
Großwörterbuch Deutsch als Fremdsprache, Langenscheidt oder PONS
Guidelines for the exercise-oriented text production
With the text production you should demonstrate that you can write on your own a coherent text on a study-related and science-oriented topic.
On a particular topic you should express a well-informed and nuanced opinion. An argumentative factual text is expected.
For your text production you have 70 minutes.
Plan the structure of the argument before you start writing.
The last 10 minutes you should check your text production for completeness and accuracy.
Outline of the text production
Your text production should start with an introduction that outlines the topic or that leads into topic (e.g. an example/problem/definition…). It is also possible to use explanations of terms or materials on the worksheet for this.
In the main part you should present arguments from the materials on the worksheet and your own arguments regarding the issue/claim/problem on the worksheet. The order of the arguments depends on your point of view. Every argument should be explained in more detail (e.g. an example/explanation…).
An coherent factual text is expected. That means, appropriate phrases are used (e.g. auf diese Weise/darüberhinaus/allerdings/dagegen spricht…) to make the line of reasoning between the various informations and arguments clear.
Include at least two relevant sources on the worksheet in your argument and please state the author of it (e.g. laut XY/wie XY sagt/die Information stammt von XY…). Do not copy full sentences of sources.
Your conclusion should be included at the end, without providing any new information. That means, your text production concludes with a well-reasoned statement. The conclusion should not present a new argument but refer to the strongest argument in the main part.
